Bibliography of Working Class Literature
This page contains a list of resources to working class literature. Each link takes you to a page with selected abstracts from that work, so you can get an idea if you’d like to read it. Unfortunately, the backward laws of copyrights prevent us from giving you the entire book – but at least you can be informed of these great works, and take a trip to your library to check them out.
Cement, by F.V. Gladkov (1925) The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck (1939) “Here’s where the real work is, Gleb. We’ve lived through a lot, learning by heart theses about the Trade Union movement and the New Economic Policy. We were turning round and round on the same spot, every day in our routine. We were becoming deaf and blind... we were developing bureaucratism. We were killing our living force in order to become professional officials.... “The bank – the monster has to have profits all the time. It can’t wait. It’ll die. No, taxes go on. When the monster stops growing, it dies. It can’t stay one size.....” “It’s not us, it’s the bank. The bank isn’t like a man. Or an owner with 50,000 acres, he isn’t like a man either. That’s the monster....”
