We believe that it is necessary for the collective to repudiate the errors that we have outlined in section I, the Economism and opportunism that has characterized our work, in order to both advance the collective’s own ability to be an effective instrument of class struggle and also to unite with the emerging Marxist-Leninist movement in Canada. At present this movement consists of study groups and political organizations and is united on its desire to apply Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tse-tung Thought to analyzing the nature of Canadian society, developing a correct strategic outlook for advancing the class struggle in the country, and building a genuine proletarian revolutionary party to lead that struggle.
In order to do a proper self-criticism and repudiate past errors, it is necessary to have a thorough debate and criticism/self criticism within the collective itself. The results of that debate should be made available to the emerging Marxist-Leninist movement in as precise and complete a way as possible. Summaries of the positions arrived at in debate should also be printed on the pages of the paper to keep our readers informed of our developing political understanding, and hopefully to bring as many of our readers with us as possible in our transformation to a Marxist-Leninist collective.
